Prevention With A Purpose

Program is open to
  • 5th and 6th graders from Fairview Elementary School
  • 7th and 8th graders from Edwin Joel Brown Middle School​

​Prevention With A Purpose follows the same schedule as Scholars of H.O.P.E. until 5 p.m. at that time we transition from academics into prevention.
  • Academics consists of weekly mentoring, and weekly field trip to K12 Gallery. 
  • Prevention With A Purpose uses the main curriculum "Too Good for Drugs" by the Mendez Foundation. ​

​My name is Mariah Steele and I am the Prevention Specialist for Scholars of H.O.P.E. After School Program. I work with the middle school scholars, 5th and 6th graders from Fairview Elementary School and 7th and 8th graders from Edwin Joel Brown Middle School. Our program is funded by Montgomery County’s ADAMHS (Alcohol Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services). This is the first year for this program.
